The Gilbert Rotary Centennial Observatory (GRCO) is open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, weather permitting. The hours of operation are from sunset to about 9:30 or 10:00 PM. Hours after 9:30 PM are dependent on visitors being present at 9:30 PM.
Attendance is free, however a voluntary donation is requested. A donation of $3.00 for an adult or $5 per family is suggested. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Groups of 15 or more should contact the GRCO Observatory Manager for advance arrangements. Due to possible special needs to accommodate these groups (extra equipment and/or personnel) a group fee may be required.
Children under High School age welcome when accompanied
by an adult.
Private sessions are available by
reservation through the Riparian Institute or the GRCO
Observatory Manager in one-hour time slots, beginning on the hour. A
maximum of 20 people can be scheduled for any one session. These sessions will
incur a fee of $5.00 per person, payable at the time of reservation. All fees
will be refunded for events cancelled due to weather. The minimum fee is $45.
Organized youth groups working on astronomy awards,
such as Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, or Girl Scouts, or any other formally organized
and recognized youth group should contact grco@evaconline.org for
specific arrangements and/or possible fee waivers.
